Super Hero Birthday Party

Every year we're worried about the weather on Rique's birthday. This year without even a thought to the weather it was bright and sunny. Yepee! Rique loved having all of his friends over to share in his birthday joy.

I think they had a good time. Doesn't our new siding from "K-Designers" look great?! If you need a referral let me know, we get a bonus.

We ate the cake and ice cream outside to avoid a mess inside. Thank goodness the weather was so good.

Our pinata lasted just long enough for all nine boys to get their turn at bat.

We did the pinata inside to avoid muddy candy.

Our treasure hunt was a real success because Rique's cousin Joshua knows how to read.

The capes looked great as they ran. And the siding looks good too.

No games necessary when you have a large group of boys, just send them outside and say "tag, you're it!"

Seth took the day off to help with all the birthday festivities.

Everyone got to decorate their own super hero mask with Rique's new paints from Grandma Sandoval.

Singing Happy Birthday

Birthday Breakfast at IHOP

To start this special day off, we went out to eat breakfast at IHOP. YUM

When we were almost finished eating, Enrique asked why the people hadn't come out to sing to him. He said, "They do that at stores on your birthday." I had no idea he was expecting this, so I went up to the hostess and asked if they do anything special on your birthday and she said they would come and sing and give some ice cream to the birthday boy.
Seth teased Rique that he would have to dance when the people came out singing, so he got really embarrased when all these pretty women came out singing to him. He hid under Seth's arm. After they left he enjoyed his ice cream.

Temple Trip

No Papa its my card

Aurora found one of Enrique's cards that he made for me and Papa. She had wanted to play with them earlier, but Enrique kept taking it away from her. She found one on our bed and was not going to give it up. Seth motioned to her and she lunged forward in my direction. This happened a few times before I taped this. She is so clever.

Grandma's Great K-mart Find at 70% off (a year and a half ago)

I love love love this dress, so much so that I would love love love a matching one so Aurora and I could look and feel like princesses all day long. Then we could do whatever we wanted to, like chew on turquoise crayola markers. I don't really need to chew on the marker, I just want a poofy dress I can sit down in and hear the air fluff out the netting underneath.

Rique loves holding his sister. I hope this love he has for her will last forever. Its so sweet and he's the best big brother anyone could ask for. He's so helpful and attentive to her. We are truly blessed.

Self Soothing...

... is not her style.
I watched a friends baby the other day and was amazed at how easy it was to gently lay her down and watch her go to sleep. So, why not my princess? I know I've waited a long time in trying this out and that it would have been a lot easier had I done this a few months ago, but better late than never.

Aurora is very strong willed and opinionated. She does not like to be left in her crib. She showed that today when she cried for nearly 2 hours before going to sleep. But she did go to sleep and here's the picture to prove it. Unfortunately, she woke up immediately after I took said picture.

In Honor of Alyssa's 13th birthday weekend, all the girls got matching shirts and took pictures.

Dancin' Dancin' Dancin'

Rique loves this music, it inspires him. Rora loves her brother, he inspires her.
I love them both. Their dancing inspires a happy day for me.

She loves her brother and laughs hysterically when he says random things. I guess its the inflection in his voice or the expression on his face, but he can make her laugh like no other.

Giggling Girl

Rique sang the ABC's and Rora started giggling like it was the funniest thing she had ever heard. I ran for the camera and was happy to get these little bits of her and big brother.
