Rique Meets Miles

After he had woken up, he ran to the living room looking around, I suppose he was expecting to see his puppy from Santa. He looked a little disappointed, I asked where his puppy was and teased that I guessed Santa didn't bring it. With his great faith, Rique replied that Santa was going to bring his puppy on the Polar Express.

We let Enrique open his gift from Tia Roxsana and Tio Jarom first since it was the leash and collar we would need for Miles' arrival. When he opened it he looked a little let down. And we teased that he would have to wait until next year for Santa to bring him his dog (we're so mean.)

But then the surprise at the door cheered him up. We especially like the little jig he does as he meets his Miles.

We love Miles

Miles was scared of all the commotion Christmas morning. Poor thing wanted to be inside the kennel until he could assess the situation. Rique didn't mind, he was so happy that Santa had brought him his puppy. He peeked out, not sure of all the people and new smells. Then he would stretch trying to come out as far as he could without letting his hind legs leave the kennel.

He recognized Seth and I and stuck close to us.
I think Seth was just as excited as Rique to get our puppy from Santa.
So was I. I love how he follows me around and listens so well. Maybe it'll rub off on Enrique. The fun really began when we went outside to play.

Isn't he beautiful?
Seth and Rique shoveled a track in our backyard for them to run with Miles. I love to watch the two of them play together in the backyard. Its so sweet to hear Enrique laugh as he runs with his pup.

Christmas

The best part of Christmas is the gifts, giving the gifts.
Humble Christmases are sometimes the best ones. When you don't have much, it forces you to be inventive.
Rique, Rora and I made Seth this blanket, complete with our hands traced and Enrique's name written all by himself.
Rique made Rora a Cherrio necklace completely edible, minus the yarn of courseAnd it wouldn't be a Christmas without a few beanies here and there.

Miles on Christmas Day

Even with our late and eventful night, Seth and I were awake (not up) before Rique.
Seth's mom and dad spent the night, so Seth and I slipped away and told Rique that we needed to buy some pancake mix at the store. Four year old's don't know that no store is open Christmas morning, so he fell for it. We picked up Miles, I think we were just as excited as any kid on Christmas morning.
Rique was so excited to get Miles for Christmas and they are already good friends. I love Miles too and am so glad to have him added to our family.
