Uncle Ryan's Birthday Party

Grandma still wasn't feeling very well this morning, so Grandpa went grocery shopping with us to get ready for Ryan's visit and Grandma got to stay home and rest.

Our first stop was to the fish market before they closed. We got lucky and Grandpa bought a Red Snapper. Rique liked that it still had all of its eyes.

Next we ran over to a strawberry stand off of Telephone to buy some strawberries for jamming. You know the strawberries are going to be good when you can smell them as you drive into the parking lot. They cut the tops off and are so fresh and sweet. We brought some home and made strawberry shortcake and didn't even add sugar. Aurora loves to eat the strawberries. I'm freezing a container of them to take back with us for jam.

From there we went to Trader Joe's and the 99 cent store to buy all the fixings for Ryan's birthday lunch/dinner. Grandpa was very patient with the kids, it was nice to spend some time with him on his own and it was nice that Grandma got to sleep some more.

Ryan and Lily got to the house shortly after we did and we had a nice visit. The two of them went down to pick oranges and took Miles for a much needed walk. When they came back, we had our choice of a variety of tacos and salad, and then our strawberry shortcake for dessert.

Rique helped Uncle Ryan wash his truck and Aurora played and got very dirty. We had a nice day.
